Mabel Jones Bisterfeldt, Council Grove

Mabel Jones Bisterfeldt of Council Grove died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at the Morris County Hospital in Council Grove. She was 91.
Mrs. Bisterfeldt was a homemaker.
The daughter of Charles and Mary Lenners Block, she was born March 22, 1916, in rural Morris County. She married Gilbert Jones in 1934, and for many years they reared three nephews, Jack, Bart and Johnny Jones. They traveled around the country with Mr. Jones’ job as a millwright, then returned to Council Grove. Mr. Jones died in 1976. She married Delbert Bisterfeldt. They were divorced.
Mrs. Bisterfeldt was an active member of the Community Christian Church in Council Grove. She also helped with the Community Thrift Store and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Teamsters Union auxiliaries.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews, great-and great-great-nieces and -nephews. Two infant daughters, Phillis Jean Jones and Mary Ellen Jones; three brothers, Clifford, Alfred, and Robert Block; two nephews, Jack and Bart Jones; and a niece, Delores Falter, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Penwell-Gabel Flint Hills Chapel in Council Grove. The Rev. Clarence Sumner will conduct the service. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Council Grove. Friends may call at the funeral home until 8 p.m. today.
