Thomas Edward King, Council Grove

1932 - 2008

Thomas Edward King of Council Grove died Friday, March 14, 2008, at the Morris County Hospital in Council Grove. He was 75.
Mr. King was a worker for the City of Emporia.
The son of Levi C. and Bessie F. Owen King, he was born March 16, 1932, at Belleville. He married Norma Joy on March 6, 1948, at Goodland. She died in 1981. He married Delores Bosse on Feb. 2, 1982, at Miami, Okla. She survives.
Mr. King is also survived by three sons, Daniel King and Terry King, both of Emporia, and Larry King of Marion; two stepsons, Thomas Smith of Marion and John Smith of El Dorado; two stepdaughters, Debra Gould of Olpe and Mildred Bergstrom of Lebo; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A son, Vernon Keith King; a brother, Donald King; and two sisters, Bonnie Willard and Virginia Havel, died earlier.
The graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The Rev. George Boesche will conduct the service. The family will meet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Charter Funerals-Emporia Chapel.
The family suggests that, instead of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati and sent in care of the funeral home, 501 W. Sixth Ave., Emporia, KS 66801.
