Mary A. Allen died Saturday, March 8, 2008, at her home in Council Grove. She was 67.
Mrs. Allen worked for the Morris County Register of Deeds Office since 1980.
The daughter of Theodore and Velma Miller Litke, she was born Sept. 16, 1940, at Council Grove. She graduated from Council Grove High School in 1958.
She married Clarence “Pud” Sawyer. He died in 1985. She married Gary R. Allen on Sept. 27, 1986. He survives.
Mrs. Allen was a member of the Kansas Register of Deeds Association, the Morris County Republican Women’s Committee and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is also survived by one son, Jon Sawyer of Council Grove; one daughter, Julie Whitney of Strong City; a stepson, Chad Allen of Murrieta, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Tammy Schmidt of Tonganoxie; a sister, Donna Hayes of Council Grove; two brothers, Frank Litke of Council Grove and Jim Litke of Cave Springs, Ark.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Theodore William Litke Jr., and Laverne Allen Litke, died earlier.
The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Council Grove. The Rev. David Parks will conduct the service.
