Carolyn Webb, Emporia
Carolyn Webb died Sunday, March 9, 2008, at her home in Emporia. She was 84.
Mrs. Webb was a bookkeeper and sales clerk, retiring in 1993 from Zales Jewelers in Emporia.
The daughter of Clarence E. and Lillie Charlotte Johnson Silven, she was born July 15, 1923, at Osage City. She married John R. Webb on Feb. 22, 1942, at Osage City. He died May 19, 2005.
Mrs. Webb was a member of the Emporia Presbyterian Church. She also was a member of the Review Book Club, Beta Sigma Phi and the Newman Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sons, J. Thomas Webb of Emporia and Timothy L. Webb of Olpe; two daughters, Martha Shook of Emporia and Eleanor A. Nelson of Olathe; one brother, Warren Silven of Mason, Ohio, and Donna Perry of Riverside, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. An infant daughter, Margaret C. Webb, died earlier.
The memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Emporia Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Mike Soreson of the church will conduct the service, after which the family will meet friends. The private inurnment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
