Una Maude Shellenberger Adams, Council Grove

Una Maude Adams died Friday, March 7, 2008, at her home in Council Grove. She was 89.
Mrs. Adams and her husband owned and operated the Hilltop Café for several years. She was a bookkeeper at Western Grain Mill before she retired in 1983. Earlier, she taught school.
The daughter of Fred and Flossie Lineker Shellenberger, she was born Sept. 29, 1918, at Bushong. She graduated from Allen High school and attended Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia.
She married George Jackson Adams on July 31, 1940, in the Methodist parsonage at Council Grove.
Mrs. Adams is survived by her husband; three sons, Larry Adams, Mike Adams and Terry Adams, all of Council Grove; two daughters, Jackie Adams and Debbie Cooper, both of Council Grove; one sister, Lois Tillinghast of Clay center; 14 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
A son, Danny Adams, and a brother, Glen Shellenberger, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Council Grove United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Penwell-Gabel Flint Hills Chapel in Council Grove.
