Erma Mae Jones, Garden City

1921 - 2008

Former Emporian Erma Mae Jones died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Homestead Health and Rehabilitation in Garden City. She was 87.
The daughter of Benjamin and Gertie Counterman Frank, she was born Jan. 10, 1921, at Kinsley. She moved to Garden City with her family when she was a child and attended a rural Finney County school.
She moved to Emporia in the early 1940s. She worked at the Dolly Madison Bakery and retired from there. In 2006, she moved back to Garden City. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include two brothers, Carl Frank of Fort Morgan, Colo., and Albert Frank of Farmington, N.M.; and four sisters, Lucille Foreman of Garden City, Helen Klaus of Holcomb, Glena Patterson of Cleveland, Okla., and Evelyn Philbrick of Deerpark, Texas. Four sisters died earlier.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Valley View Cemetery at Garden City. The Rev. David Bell will officiate. Condolences may be sent to garnandfh@sbcglobal.net. Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City has the arrangements.
