AMERICUS
Jessie L. Kahle of Americus died Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at the Holiday Resort. She was 69.
Mrs. Kahle worked many years as a registered nurse before retiring in 1990 from St. Mary’s Hospital in Emporia, after working there 11 years.
The daughter of Harold R. and Vesta L. Everett Olney, she was born April 7, 1938, at Newton. She graduated from Sedgwick High School in 1956 and received her nursing degree from the St. Francis School of Nursing in 1959.
She married Larry N. Kahle on May 19, 1978, at Sedgwick. He survives.
Mrs. Kahle was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Americus and the United Presbyterian Women. She also was a member of the Family Campers and RVers, Kansas Campers Association and the Embroidery Club. She enjoyed doing needlework, playing piano and organ, traveling, and spending time with her family.
She is also survived by a son, Robert Kahle of Pea Ridge, Ark.; a daughter, Peggy Sayler of Wichita; a sister, Peg Koehn of Halstead; two brothers, Joe Olney of Newton and Bill Olney of East Haddam, Conn.; and four grandchildren. A son, Michael Gail Kahle, and a sister, Edith “Edie” Baker, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the United Presbyterian Church in Americus. The Rev. Brenda Ulrich will conduct the service. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Council Grove. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the church.
