Marvin Dean Schif, Berryton
1936 - 2008
Former Gridley resident Marvin Dean Schif of Berryton died Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan. He was 71.
Mr. Schif , a contractor, worked in construction and owned a swimming pool construction company. He moved to Topeka in 1955 and lived in the Topeka area the rest of his life.
The son of Roy and Rosa Knapp Schif, he was born Oct. 28, 1936, in rural Hartford. He married Mary Lou Shaffer on July 17, 1955, at Gridley. She survives.
Mr. Schif attended the Town and Country Christian Church in Topeka. He was a member of the Topeka Quarter Midget Association and raced with his son and grandsons.
He is also survived by one son, Kevin Schif of Berryton; two daughters, Kristal Schif of Berryton and Karla Woodward of Ogden, Utah; one sister, Sylvia Kneisly of Burlington; and six grandchildren. A sister, Marilyn Joyce Greer, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Town and Country Christian Church in Topeka. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery at Burlington. The family will meet friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church.
