Don H. Minner, Little Rock, Ark.
Former Emporia resident Don H. Minner of Little Rock, Ark., died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, at Chenal Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Little Rock, Ark. He was 87.
Mr. Minner was a retired teacher and professor. He taught at Mid-America Nazarene University and the College of Emporia and was principal at Saffordville High School at Saffordville. He lived in McPherson from 1988 to 2004 when he moved to Little Rock. He served in the Air National Guard.
The son of Harry H.W. and Dora Edna Mastin Minner, he was born May 1, 1920, at Lost Springs. He received a bachelor’s degree from Sterling College, a master’s degree from Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia and a doctorate in education from Oklahoma State University.
He married Geraldine M. “Gerry” Minner on April 5, 1945, at New York, N.Y. She died March 1, 2002.
Mr. Minner was a member of the Free Methodist Church in McPherson.
He is survived by one son, Dennis Minner of McPherson; two daughters, Donna Robillard of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Jan Rice of Little Rock, Ark.; and three grandchildren. A brother, Galen Minner; and a sister, Violet Landis, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the McPherson Free Methodist Church.
Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Stockham Family Funeral Home in McPherson.
