Ernest "Dutch" Anthony Germann, Emporia

1915 - 2008

Ernest “Dutch” Anthony Germann died Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at the Flint Hills Care Center in Emporia. He was 92.
Mr. Germann worked for the railroad and then worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation. He moved to Emporia from Burlington.
The son of William Ernest and Pearl Irene Rifenbark Germann, he was born March 25, 1915, at Strawn. He married Adelia Armenta Roth on Jan. 15, 1938, at Burlington. She died Nov. 1, 2003.
Mr. Germann was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church. He also was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2587.
He is survived by two daughters, Verna Uran of Emporia and Beverly Copeland of Burlington; one son, Ernest E. Germann of Gridley; four sisters, Beula Stutsman of Emporia, Isabelle Bruce of Topeka, Leota Simon of Burlington and Lavern Holscher of Broken Arrow, Okla.; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Two sisters and two brothers died earlier.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home in Lebo. Burial will be in Bowman-Adgate Cemetery, south of Lebo. The family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
