Grace Anna Russo, Burlington
1935 - 2008
Grace Anna Russo died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008, at Coffey County Hospital in Burlington. She was 72.
Mrs. Russo was an inspector for 16 years for Harris RF Communications, then worked several years for the Digital Switch Corporation before she retired in 2004 from the Celestica Corporation, all in Dallas, Texas. She moved to Lake Dallas, a suburb of Dallas, in 1979. In 2004, she moved to Lebo and then to Burlington.
The daughter of Edward James and Ethel May Daggett Powers, she was born Dec. 6, 1935, at Rutland, Vt., where she spent her early childhood. The family moved to Amherst, Mass., where she graduated from high school. She moved to Springfield, Mass., and then to Castile, N.Y. where she attended Elohim University.
She married Anthony A. Russo in 1956, at Springfield, Mass. He died in 1965.
Mrs. Russo was a member of the Cindy Lane Baptist Church in Lake Dallas. She attended the Baptist Church in Lebo and the First Baptist Church in Burlington.
She is survived by one son, Andrew Anthony Russo of Burlington; one daughter, Leona May Edelmann of Sodus, N.Y.; her stepmother, Beatrice Powers of Amarillo, Texas; two brothers, Mark Powers of Spring, Texas, and James Powers of Waxahachie, Texas; three sisters, Terry White of Newkirk, N.M., Cindy Childs of Virginia Beach, Va., and Viola Parker of Amarillo, Texas; and five grandchildren. A son, David Edward Russo, died in 1984.
A service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington, after which the family will meet friends. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville, Texas. Burial will be in Swisher Cemetery at Lake Dallas, Texas. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home in Texas.
