Marjorie S. Horak Sobacky, Emporia

1917 - 2008

The funeral for Marjorie Sophia Sabacky will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Zion Evangelical Church in Munden. Henry Strnad will conduct the service. Burial will be in Tabor Cemetery at Munden. The family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Charter Funerals-Emporia Chapel.
The family suggests that, instead of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Deaf Missions of Council Bluff, Iowa, or the Fayette County Right to Life of Winfield, Ala., and sent in care of the funeral home, 501 W. Sixth Ave., Emporia, KS 66801.
Mrs. Sabacky, formerly of 1404 Drury Lane and recently a resident of the Holiday Resort, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at Newman Regional Health. She was 90.
She was a homemaker.
The daughter of George and Blanche Strnad Horak, she was born Oct. 15, 1917, at Munden. She married Jerome Sabacky in 1941 at Munden. They lived and farmed near Emerson, Neb., before moving to Emporia in 1976. He died earlier.
Mrs. Sabacky was a member of the Church of Christ.
She is survived by one son, Kenneth Sabacky of Emporia; one daughter, Betty Lou McDonald of Winfield, Ala.; one brother, Harry Horak of Santa Monica, Calif.; and four grandchildren. Two brothers, William Horak and Eugene Horak, died earlier.
