Alberta M. Hess, Waverly

Alberta M. Hess of Waverly died Jan. 19, 2008, at the Sunset Manor in Waverly, where she lived since 2002. She was 83.
Mrs. Hess had taught crafts to the residents of the Manor in earlier years. She and her husband moved to Waverly in 1973.
The daughter of John W. and Bessie E. Richardson Durham, she was born Sept. 28, 1924, at Bloomington, Ind. She married Jay O. Hess on May 11, 1963, at Santee, Calif. He died Oct. 9, 2003.
Mrs. Hess is survived by four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Her children, William A. “Billy” Douglas and Katherine E. Chasteen, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Waverly. Burial will be in Waverly Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.
