GLADSTONE, MO.
Former Emporia resident Richard Lane Robins of Gladstone, Mo., died Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, in Kansas City, Mo., of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was 69.
Mr. Robins taught music to students in Admire and McClouth for 37 years before he retired in 2000. At the time of his death, he was working as a part-time professional driver and trainer for Manheim Auto Auction in Kansas City.
The son of Samuel B. and Ida Mea Elizabeth Robins, he was born March 19, 1938, at Cimarron. He graduated from Cimarron High School and Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia.
Mr. Robins is survived by his wife of 21 years, Gerry Ann Robins; a son, Fletcher L. Robins; six stepchildren, Karen Coates, Debi Sherwood, Glenda Spellerberg, Douglas Bell, Jodi Francis and Sean Rumage; four brothers, Bert Robins, John “Jack” Robins, Lawrence Robins and Don Robins; 21 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. Three brothers, Robert D. Robins, Edward L. Robins and William D. Robins; and one sister, Marion Robins Campbell, died earlier.
The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Kansas City, Mo.
