Edward Lewis Winzeler, Lamont

1918 - 2008

A graveside service for Edward Lewis Winzeler will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at the Lamont Apostolic Church Cemetery southeast of Lamont. Mr. Winzeler died Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, in the Valley View Nursing Home in Junction City.
Edward Lewis Winzeler, the youngest son of Sam and Mary Isch Winzeler, was born Dec. 12, 1918, in Lamont, where he was reared.
Mr. Winzeler enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 23, and spent much of the next 27 years in service related to the military. Most of his work involved transportation, although he also handled and trained war dogs for the military in California. He received numerous commendations and awards.
He lived in Junction City after his retirement on June 1, 1967, and was a driver for the Yellow Cab Company.
Mr. Winzeler is survived by one brother, Alvin R. Winzeler of Houston, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
