Former Emporian Bertha B. “Bert” Mouse died Jan. 9, 2008, at the Community Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Naperville, Ill.
Mrs. Mouse was cremated. The time and place of the graveside inurnment service in Emporia will be announced by the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
The memorial service for Emporia native Bertha Belle “Bert” Mouse will be at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 25 at the Patio Garden in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Mouse was cremated. The Rev. Lee Hoskins of the First United Methodist Church will conduct the service.
The family suggests that, instead of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society and sent in care of the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, KS 66801.
Mrs. Mouse died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, at the Community Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Naperville, Ill. She lived at the Devonshire Senior Residences in Lisle, Ill. and was a longtime resident of Emporia. She was 97.
She was a bookkeeper for many years for her husband’s automobile dealership, T.H. Mouse Motor Company in Emporia, and later worked at the Lyon County Courthouse in the motor vehicle division. She moved to Illinois in 2001 and lived at Lisle for six years.
The daughter of Robert L. and Frances H. Hormel Service, she was born Dec. 29, 1910, at Emporia. She graduated from Emporia High School in 1929.
She married Thomas H. Mouse on July 2, 1943, in Emporia. He died Sept. 28, 1981, in Emporia.
Mrs. Mouse was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Emporia.
She is survived by one son, Jack Mouse of Naperville, Ill. A sister, Roberta King; and a brother, Royal Service, died earlier.
