James Jay Henderson, Osage City

James Jay Henderson of Osage City died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at Peterson Nursing Home in Osage City. He was 71.
Mr. Henderson moved to Osage City from St. Charles, Mo., about 10 years ago. He worked for the Tool Craft Company as a machinist of metal fabrication for 35 to 40 years before he retired. He was an Army veteran.
The son of Elmer Goldie and Sylvia Marie Atkinson Henderson, he was born Aug. 21, 1936 in Elmdale. He married Donna Lubben. They were divorced. He married Cheryl P. Noble Boenker on Aug 19, 1993, in St. Charles, Mo. She survives.
Mr. Henderson is also survived by two daughters, Beverly Lister of St. Charles, Mo., and Brenda Graham of Wentzville, Mo.; four sisters, Shirley Devanney of Emporia, Jane Aplet of Charleston, Ore., Peggy Widenor of Eagle, Idaho and Linda Pederson of Grand Ronde, Ore.; eight brothers, Sam Henderson and Roger Henderson, both of Elmdale, Ted Henderson of Lebo, Don Henderson of Reading, John Henderson of Abilene, Joe Henderson of Aberdeen, Wash., Bill Henderson of Plains, Mont., and David Henderson of Yuba City, Calif.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A sister, Ann Henderson, and a brother, Bob Henderson, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Osage City. The graveside service, with military services conducted by an honor guard from Fort Riley, will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Fort Scott National Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 p.m. Monday until service time at the funeral chapel.
The family suggests that, instead of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society and sent in care of the funeral home, 107 N. Sixth St., Osage City, KS 66523.
