Max R. Dye, Salina
1923 - 2008
Former Emporia resident Max R. Dye of Salina died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008. He was 84.
Mr. Dye was a school teacher and football, track and wrestling coach for 36 years at South Junior High, North Junior High and Salina Central High schools.
He was born Oct. 2, 1923, at Mulvane. He graduated from Kansas State Teachers College with a degree in education. His wife, Iris J. Dye, died Jan. 16, 2007.
Mr. Dye is survived by two sons, Jeff M. Dye of Salina and Fred A. Dye of Peoria, Ariz.; one daughter, Barbara Guster-Dye of Lawrence; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A son, David J. Dye, died in September 1997.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the University United Methodist Church in Salina. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery at Salina. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Ryan Mortuary in Salina.
