Thelma Isabell Dewey died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, at her home in Burlington. She was 92.
The daughter of William and Bertha Flo Newton Proehl, she was born June 26, 1915, at Dunlap. She married Elmer G. Dewey on April 5, 1936, at Alta Vista. He died July 2, 2000.
Mr. Dewey was a member of the First Baptist Church in Burlington. She was a past president of the auxiliary to American Legion Hull-Cromwell Post 119 in Waverly.
She is survived by two sons, George Dewey of Garnett and John Dewey of Melvern; three daughters, Kay Allen of Bucklin, Aleta Mays of Fairland, Okla., and Patricia Hull of Weimar, Texas; two brothers, Wayne Proehl of Emporia and Herman Proehl of Versailles, Mo.; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. A son, Darrell Dewey; and a brother, Frederick Proehl, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Burlington. Burial will be in Waverly Cemetery at Waverly. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.
