Holly Beth Theas, Emporia

1956 - 2007

The funeral for Holly Beth Theas of Emporia will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Messiah Lutheran Church. The Rev. Norbert Tegtmeier will conduct the service. The graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Isley Cemetery at Fairview. Family and friends will meet at the Fairview United Church of Christ after the burial service. The coffin will remain closed. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions for breast cancer research, with the recipient to be designated later, may be sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, KS 66801.
Mrs. Theas died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan. She was 51.
She was a registered nurse at Newman Regional Health and worked in many areas of the nursing field, but specialized in intensive care nursing.
The daughter of Garry Trees and Marjorie Cyphers Graham, she was born Dec. 27, 1956, at Hillsboro. She graduated from Emporia High School and graduated first in her class in 1978 from the Amarillo School of Nursing at Amarillo, Texas.
Mrs. Theas was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, where she played piano. She also played violin.
She is survived by one son, Shane Theas of Emporia; one daughter, Lauren Theas of Emporia; her mother of Emporia; two brothers, John Graham of Emporia and Paul Graham of Jefferson City, Mo.; two sisters, Cherie Graham of Lafayette, Ind., and Sibyl Failing of Walla Walla, Wash.; and her former husbands, Jimmy Dean Theas and William James. James also was her caregiver. Her father died earlier.
