Dorothy Juanita James, Topeka

1927 - 2007

Emporia native Dorothy Juanita James of Topeka died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka. She was 80.
Miss James, a resistered nurse, taught nursing at Susan B. Allen Hospital in El Dorado, then was head surgical nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital in Emporia for several years. She retired in the mid 1980s.
The daughter of Carl J. and Ida Louise Stohr James, she was born Jan. 18, 1927, at Emporia. She graduated from the Newman School of Nursing.
Miss James was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the auxiliary to VFW Post 1980.
She is survived by one brother, Robert James of Emporia; one sister, Mary Holscher of Topeka; and many nieces and nephews. A sister, Carlene Hush; and two brothers, Earl Claire James and Richard C. James, died earlier.
The funeral was today at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. Kathy Williams conducted the service. Burial was in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
