The funeral for Hilda E. Childers of Emporia will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Messiah Lutheran Church. The Rev. Norbert Tegtmeier will conduct the service. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at Emporia. The family will meet friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.

Mrs. Childers died Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at Newman Regional Health. She was 90.
She was bookkeeper at Fanestil Meats for 20 years and then was supervisor in the laundry department at Newman Hospital for 17 years. She retired 29 years ago.
The daughter of Richard and Mary Ann Schmidt Wudtke, she was born June 19, 1917, at Olpe. She married Walter Childers on June 7, 1940, at Emporia. He died Nov. 21, 1986, at Emporia.
She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and the church’s Ruth Circle.
Mrs. Childers is survived by four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Her daughter, Cynthia Ruth Gaston, and two sisters, Ruth Swank and Lydia Becht, died earlier.
