Bert U. Watts, Virgil

1925 - 2008

Bert U. Watts died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008, at the home of his daughter. He was 82.
Mr. Watts was a retired oil field worker, carpenter and general handyman.
The son of Arthur M. and Anna M. Crouch Watts, he was born June 21, 1925, at Quincy. He grew up in the Virgil-Quincy area. He married Doris Maley on May 27, 1952. They lived in California, Oregon, Arkansas, Wyoming and Washington State before they settled in Greenwood County. They were divorced. She died April 20, 2006. He married Karen S. Gulick on Sept. 6, 1977, at Fredonia. They lived in the area of Greenwood and Elk counties. She died June 30, 2005.
Mr. Watts is survived by one son, Eugene A. Watts of Toronto; one daughter, Twyla Damron of Quincy; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Two brothers died earlier.
The graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Virgil Cemetery at Virgil. The Rev. Mark Demas will conduct the service.
The family suggests that, instead of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Bert Watts College Fund and sent in care of the Wilson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 488, Madison, KS 66860.
