Roy E. Wheeler, Manhattan
Roy E. Wheeler died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008, at his home in Manhattan. He was 86. Survivors in this area include a son, Merlin G. Wheeler of Emporia.
Mr. Wheeler worked for the Dodge City Cooperative exchange as a bulk fuel delivery driver and fertilizer salesman. After he retired from the Co-op, he established his own company distributing crop and grass seed in Kansas, Oklahoma and Colorado. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1944 through 1946.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the University Christian Church in Manhattan. Another funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Christian Church in Dodge City. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery at Dodge City. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan.
