AMERICUS
The funeral for Wendell W. Tietz of Americus will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. The Rev. Bud Tuxhorn of the Americus United Methodist Church will conduct the service. Burial, with services conducted by American Legion Ball-McColm Post 5 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1980, will be in Americus Cemetery at Americus. The family will meet friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
A memorial will be established later.
Mr. Tietz died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at Newman Regional Health. He was 94.
He farmed for many years before he retired. He served with the U.S. Army in World War II.
The son of William F. and Mattie Dunkin Tietz, he was born Oct. 8. 1913, at Mehan, Okla.
Mr. Tietz was a member of American Legion Post 5.
He is survived by one sister, Vera Proehl of Hutchinson. Two brothers and two sisters died earlier.
