Edith G. Tebben, Emporia

1917 - 2008

The funeral service for Edith G. Tebben will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday in Campbell Funeral Home in Yates Center. Burial will be in Schlicter Cemetery in Coffey County.
Mrs. Tebben, who was 90, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, in Emporia, where she had lived since moving from Yates Center.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Memorial donations may be sent to Hand-in-Hand Hospice, 1015 Industrial Road, Emporia KS 66801.
Edith G. Zimmerman, the daughter of Albert and Maude McIlvain Zimmerman, was born Aug. 15, 1917, in Lamont. She graduated from Kansas State Teachers College, now Emporia State University, and taught in rural schools before her marriage, and later taught in Perry and Yates Center.
She married Everett George Tebben on June 1, 1948, at Anthony. He died July 7, 1991.
She was a member of the Maple Grove United Methodist Church, and transferred to Grace Methodist Church in Emporia, where she was a member of the church auxiliary.
Mrs. Tebben had done volunteer work with the literacy program and the Mother-to-Mother group in Emporia. Her hobbies were cooking, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons, Dallas Tebben of Emporia, Larry Tebben of Blanco, Texas, and George Tebben II of Los Angeles; one daughter, Barbara Munoz of Topeka; one brother, Roy Zimmerman of Madison; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth.
