N.E. “Bud” Schnakenberg

The memorial service for N.E. “Bud” Schnakenberg will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Messiah Lutheran Church. The Rev. Norbert Tegtmeier will conduct the service. Mr. Schnakenberg was cremated.
Memorial contributions to the Messiah Lutheran Church or the Newman Division of Nursing at Emporia State University may be sent in care of the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, KS 66801.
Mr. Schnakenberg died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, at his home in Emporia. He was 80.
He was president and owner of Navrat’s Office Products from which he retired April 7, 1989. He started with the company in 1963, working there for 26 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
The son of John and Emilia Holtzen Schnakenberg, he was born Dec. 5, 1927, at Cole Camp, Mo. He married Mildred L. Griffin on Sept. 9, 1950, at Kansas City, Kan. She survives.
Mr. Schnakenberg was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church. He was a member and past president of the Sertoma Club and a member of American Legion Ball-McColm Post 5.
He is also survived by three sons, Kent Schnakenberg and Mark Schnakenberg, both of Emporia, and Mike Schnakenberg of Sugarland, Texas; one daughter, Debbie Redeker of Olpe; one brother, J.A. Schnakenberg of Cole Camp, Mo.; and 10 grandchildren. One brother; and six sisters died earlier.
