James Ronsick, Emporia
1923 - 2008
The funeral for James Edwin Ronsick, 2530 West Ridge Drive, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Messiah Lutheran Church. The Rev. Norbert Tegtmeier will conduct the service. Burial, with military honors conducted by American Legion Ball-McColm Post 5 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Lowry-Funston Post 1980, will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.

Mr. Ronsick died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at the Holiday Resort care center. He was 85.
Mr. Ronsick was a farmer and rancher in the Elk community in northwest Chase County for 45 years before he retired 18 years ago. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
The son of Edwin J. and Lillie Fern Latham Ronsick, he was born Feb. 4, 1923, at Iola. He married Norma J. Wilkerson on Aug. 21, 1945, at Albuquerque, N.M. She survives.
Mr. Ronsick was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, where he was an Elder. He also was an Elder at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lincolnville. He was a member of VFW Post 1980, the Lincolnville American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.
He is also survived by one son, Gene Ronsick of Overland Park; two daughters, Virginia Taylor of Lenexa and Barbara Sipes of Overland Park; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Katharine May Ronsick and Betty Ann Kent; and a great-grandson, Benjamin Twyman, died earlier.
