Emmajean "Jeannie" L. Wood, Lebo
1939 - 2008
Emmajean L. “Jeannie” Wood of Lebo died Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at the Flint Hills Care Center in Emporia. She was 68.
Mrs. Wood was a nurses aide in several southeastern Kansas hospitals and later helped the elderly in Lebo.
The daughter of Clarence Levi and Elizabeth Viola Moyer Estle, she was born Oct. 5, 1939, at Humbolt, Neb., where she grew up on a farm. She married James B. Frye in 1959. They were divorced. She married Edwin L. Wood on June 18, 1978, at Lebo. He survives.
Mrs. Wood is also survived by five sons, Danny Frye and James Frye, both of Lebo, Rodney Frye of Moran, Clarence “Frenchie” Frye of Virginia Beach, Va., and Bill Frye of Dallas, N.C.; two stepsons, Benny Wood of Lebo and Don Wood of Admire; her mother of Independence, Mo.; two sisters, Carolyn Lee of Redfield and Judy Sexton of North Kansas City, Mo.; five brothers, Clarence Estle of Lansing, Dean Estle of New Strawn, Phillip Estle of Lawrence, Tommy Estle of Independence, Mo., and Richard Estle of Parma, Idaho; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Her father died earlier.
The graveside memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Lincoln Cemetery at Lebo. The family will meet friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home in Lebo.
