Dorothy Evelyn Keen, Topeka
1919 - 2008
Madison native Dorothy Evelyn Keen of Topeka died Tuesday, April 1, at the Presbyterian Manor. She was 88. Mrs. Keen was a homemaker.
The daughter of Fred and Ruby May Lyman Webb, she was born Oct. 27, 1919, at Madison. She graduated from the Menninger Bible Class in Topeka.
She married Alvin Keen on June 5, 1938, at Emporia. He died Jan. 28, 2003.
Mrs. Keen was a member of California Acres Church of Christ in Topeka, where she taught children’s classes for many years. She sang in the New Beginnings Choir. She was a 4-H leader, a 4-H board president and a member of Ladies Auxiliary of Local 83, of which she was president for two years.
She is survived by three daughters, Helen Derby of Topeka, Carolyn Desormiers of Silver Lake and Eleanor Sue Fortenbaugh of Joplin, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Mildred Webb and Hazel Brown; and two brothers, Robert Webb and Lyman Webb, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Hope Chapel in Topeka. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery at Topeka. Friends may call after noon at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel.
