Doris Hight, Council Grove

1923 - 2008

Doris June Hight of Council Grove died Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at the Council Grove Healthcare Center. She was 84.
Mrs. Hight was a secretary at Coffin Insurance Company and Ramsey Insurance Company. During World War II, she worked for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita.
The daughter of Theodore and Madelyn Reeder Turner, she was born July 24, 1923, at Redfield. She graduated from Council Grove High School.
She married Millard Hight on May 24, 1942. He died Aug. 2, 1999.
Mrs. Hight was a member of the First Baptist Church in Council Grove. She also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliary and an extension home unit.
She is survived by two sons, Vance Hight of Council Grove and Lyle Hight of Abilene; one daughter, Rilla Sill of Council Grove; one brother, Kenneth Turner of Canton; five sisters, Velma Myers of Nickerson, Melba Gray and Viola Holler, both of Galva, Alberta Wright of Wichita and Maxine Wells of Yakima, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. A son, Lance Hight; a sister, Bernice Henderson; and four brothers, Harry Turner, Theodore Turner Jr., Delbert Turner and Roland Turner, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Council Grove. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Council Grove. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.
