The funeral for Ruth Ellen Gilliland, 1531 Wheeler St., will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Grace United Methodist Church. The Rev. Mic McGuire of the church will conduct the service. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gilliland died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor. She was 91.
She was a homemaker and the third generation of her family to live her entire life in Lyon County.
The daughter of James W. and May Bugbee Spillman, she was born Aug. 20, 1916, in rural Emporia. She married Orvin Gilliland on Feb. 28, 1936, in Emporia. He died Dec. 26, 1985, in Emporia.
Mrs. Gilliland was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and the church Phebe Group.
She is survived by one son, Yogi Gilliland of Pleasant View, Utah; one daughter, Beverly Flott of Rochester, Minn.; two brothers, Eldon Hecht of Coldwater and Dale Hecht of El Granada, Calif.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A brother and sister died earlier.
