Rhonda Marie Malott, Nacogdoches, Texas

1938 - 2007

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS
Former Emporian Rhonda Marie Malott died Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, at her home in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was 69 and had a long-term illness.
Mrs. Malott taught at Pickney Elementary School in Lawrence and later taught physical education in Texas. She also was a homemaker.
The daughter of the late Clarence and Geneveve Johnston, she was born May 9, 1938, in Kansas City, Mo. Her stepmother was the late Inez Greer Johnston of Emporia.
Mrs. Malott attended elementary school at Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia; graduated in 1956 from Emporia High School, where she was the class valedictorian; and received a bachelor’s degree from KSTC and a master’s degree in physical education from the University of Kansas in Lawrence.
She married Terry Malott at Sacred Heart Church in Emporia. He survives.
Mrs. Malott was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nacogdoches and in Emporia.
She also is survived by three sons, Mark Malott and Mitch Malott, both of Nacogdoches, and Matt Malott of San Diego; one daughter, Michele Malott of San Diego; one sister, Clara Jean Rainey of California; and five grandchildren.
The funeral was held Sept. 19, 2007, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel in Nacogdoches. The Rev. Monsignor James E. Young of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nacogdoches was the celebrant. Burial was in McKnight Cemetery at Cushing, Texas.
