Orland Land, EUREKA

1944 - 2007

Orland “Reece” Land of Eureka died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at Newman Regional Health. He was 63.
Mr. Land worked for several businesses in the area, including Ranch Aid for 28 years, Jarvis Auto and Irsik and Doll Feed Services. He continued to work until his health forced him to take medical leave.
The son of Wilbert Clark and Pauline Cary Land, he was born Sept. 4, 1944, at Culver City, Calif. He grew up in Wichita and attended local schools. The family later moved to Howard where he graduated from Howard High School. He graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor’s degree in animal sciences.
He married Drusilla Caruthers on Aug. 28, 1966, at Howard. They lived in Wichita for three years and in 1970, moved to Eureka. She survives.
Mr. Land is also survived by three daughters, Molly Starkey of Spring Hill, Michelle Hurn of Hiawatha and Shannon Weaver of Newkirk, Okla.; his mother, Pauline Archibald of Hamilton; two brothers, Max Land of Keizer, Ore., and Dale Land of Oregon; and five grandchildren. His father and a sister, Norma Price, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Koup Family Funeral Home in Eureka. The Rev. Alan Hunter of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church will conduct the service. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call until 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family suggests that, instead of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society and sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045.
