Doris Maurine Smith, Emporia

1916 - 2007

Doris Maurine Smith, formerly of 1531 Wheeler St., died Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at the Emporia Rehabilitation Center. She was 91.
Mrs. Smith was a homemaker.
The daughter of Everett and Ethel Williams Lilly, she was born Feb. 22, 1916, at Kelso. She married John H. Smith on Aug. 8, 1933, at Council Grove. He died March 8, 1981.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the Assembly of God church. She also was a member of the Flint Hills Arts and Crafts Association.
She is survived by two sons, Donald J. Smith of Emporia and Philip D. Smith of Arvada, Colo.; one sister, Betty Emerson of Chowchilla, Calif.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. A brother, Lloyd Lilly; and two sisters, Lois Dunn and Ruth Bacholm, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. The Rev. Tom Miller of Victory Fellowship Foursquare Church will conduct the service. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery, west of Emporia. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
