Lawrence L. Wilson, Hartford

Lawrence L. Wilson of Hartford died Friday, Sept. 14, 2007, at Newman Regional Health.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.

Lawrence Lee Wilson of Hartford died Friday, Sept. 14, 2007, at Newman Regional Health. He was 71.
The son of James Arthur and Edna Mae Todd Wilson, he was born Oct. 24, 1935, in Gridley. He married Viola Rae Crotts on July 12, 1956, in LeRoy. She survives.
Larry Wilson grew up in the Hartford community, graduating from Hartford High School in 1953. He was a farmer and stockman. Also, in his younger years, he worked in the oil fields and for the railroad.
In the 1950s, he served for three years in the National Guard. He was a member of Congdon-Kepler Post 38 of the American Legion.
He was also a member of the Hartford United Methodist Church.
He was a member of the Kansas Tractor Pullers Association and competed in many tractor pulls. He belonged to Quail Unlimited and Ducks Unlimited and won a Bankers’ Soil Conservation Award in the 1990s.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, trap shooting and golf.
Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, Mike Wilson of Hartford and Terry Wilson of Burlington; three daughters, Vicki Hoelting-Thomsen of Hartford, Debbie Rae Davis of Emporia and Sherry O’Trimble of Perry; two brothers, Dean Wilson and Richard Wilson, both of Hartford; 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Bruce Lawrence Hoelting.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Hartford Gymnasium. Burial will be at Hartford Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.
Memorial donations may be made to the Larry Wilson High School Scholarship Fund or the Hartford United Methodist Church.
