Tyrone T. Korte, Seneca

1977 - 2007

Tyrone “Ty” T. Korte, 30, of Seneca was killed on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, while at work on U.S. Highway 59 south of Lawrence.
Mr. Korte was born Feb. 16, 1977, in Seneca, the only son of Thomas and Wilma Niehues Korte. He attended Sts. Peter and Paul Grade School, and then attended and graduated from Nemaha Valley High School in 1995. He received his bachelor’s degree in political science and economics from Emporia State University in 2001.
After graduation, he worked as a manager for Fastenal in Lincoln, Neb. In 2002, he took a job with the Kansas Department of Transportation as an engineering technician.
Mr. Korte was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca and the Seneca Golf Club. He loved sports — he ran, played golf and was a Yankees and KU fan.
He is survived by his parents of Seneca; two sisters, Dr. Kristina McKinsey of Seneca and 2nd Lt. Olivia Korte of Colorado Springs, Colo.; grandparents Robert and Mary Rennenger Niehues of Seneca; and a special friend, Amy Renyer.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Raymond and Theresa Enneking Korte.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church. Burial will be at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. today at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
Memorial contributions may be given to Sacred Heart Association for the orphanage or to the Animal Humane Society.
