Mable Smith Wilson, Emporia

1932 - 2007

Mable Wilson of Emporia died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, at HCR Manor Care in Topeka. She was 75.
The daughter of Thomas and Hazel Murray Smith, she was born Aug. 12, 1932, in Emporia. She married O’Neil Wilson in August 1956 in Wichita. He died in February 1977.
Mrs. Wilson was a member of St. James Baptist Church in Emporia and was active in the Missionary Society and on the church’s Usher Board.
She worked as a private, child-care provider.
Survivors include one daughter, Leslee Wilson of New Hope, Minn.; two brothers, Edward Smith of Emporia and Thomas Smith Jr. of Ottawa; three sisters, Patty Hammond of Emporia, Helen Johnson of Topeka and Kathryn Mack of Topeka and three grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, a brother, Willard Smith, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the St. James Baptist Church and will be conducted by the Rev. Michael Moore. Cremations will follow the service. The family will meet with friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, which has the arrangements.
