Willis Warren White, Waverly

Willis Warren White died Monday, Sept. 3, 2007, at his home in Waverly. He was 80.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home in Lebo. Burial will be in Waverly Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. White farmed in the Melvern area for most of his life and drove a dump truck for six years. He later worked for the Kansas State Forestry Department at Melvern Lake for 18 1/2 years. He and his wife retired to Bella Vista, Ark., for 11 years before they returned to Waverly in the summer of 2006.
The son of Eugene Brooks and Erma Alice Smith White, he was born Oct. 20, 1926, at Melvern. He graduated from Melvern High School in 1944 and then served in the U.S. Navy.
He married Mary Joan Rudolph on July 4, 1948, at Melvern. She survives.
Mr. White was a member of the United Methodist Church.
He also is survived by three daughters, Marie Rogers of Emporia, Irene Perry of Kansas City, Kan., and Dianna Marcus of Scottsdale, Ariz.; four sons, Duane White of Melvern, Cletus White of Waverly, Frank White of Kansas City, Kan., and Jeff White of Goddard; one brother, Lloyd White of Melvern; 22 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
