Carl A. Miller, Americus

1922 - 2007

Carl A. Miller, 85, Americus, died Sunday evening, Oct. 28, 2007, at his home. Services will be announced by Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
The funeral for Carl A. Miller will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. The Rev. Bud Tuxhorn of the United Methodist Church at Americus will conduct the service. Burial will be in Dunlap Cemetery at Dunlap.
The family suggests that, instead of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Flint Hills Rodeo Association and sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, KS 66801.
Mr. Miller died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, at his home in Americus. He was 85.
He farmed and also owned the Carl A. Miller Truck Line. He was an Army veteran.
The son of Reeves Ellis and Sally Carrie Severt Miller, he was born Oct. 28, 1922, at Dunlap.
Mr. Miller participated in the Santa Fe Trail Ride from 1987 until 2003. He attended 47 straight years of the Flint Hills Rodeo at Strong City. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Lowry-Funston Post 1980, American Legion Ball-McColm Post 5 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2587.
He is survived by two sons, Roy Miller and Ray Miller, both of Emporia; two daughters, Sue Nutterfield of DeSoto and Sally Miller Cheek of Omaha, Neb.; one sister, Hazel Duncan of Emporia; and four grandchildren. Three brothers, Art Miller, Bart Miller and Fields Miller; and three sisters, Joncie Miller, Nellie Myers and Edna Eisenburger, died earlier.
