Henry Edward Nichols

1928 - 2007

Henry Edward “Ed” Nichols died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, at his home, 109 Mechanic St. He was 79.
Mr. Nichols was a heavy equipment operator for Markowitz Builders in Emporia before he retired 15 years ago.
The son of Henry T. and Dottie Mae White Nichols, he was born March 21,1928, at Strong City. He married Naomi Ruth Hungerford on June 3, 1950. She survives.
Mr. Nichols was a member of the Salvation Army Worship Center.
He is also survived by five sons, Edward Leroy Nichols, Richard R. Nichols and Daniel L. Nichols, all of Emporia, and Nicholas G.R. Nichols and John J. Nichols, both of Wichita; four daughters, Carolyn B. Conley of Emporia, Kathryn L. Engels and Ruthie E. Winkler, both of Wichita and Mary D. Tesh of Collinsville, Okla.; three brothers, Frank L. Nichols, Cecil Richard Nichols and Floyd W. Nichols, all of Emporia; two sisters, Mary Huntsinger of Madison and Edith Ingram of Quenemo; 26 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Two sons, David R. Nichols and Larry D. Nichols, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home Chapel. Capt. Jeremiah Burris of the Salvation Army Worship Center will conduct the service. Mr. Nichols will be cremated after the service. Inurnment will be in Fowler-Hunt Cemetery at a later date. The family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home,
