The funeral for Ralph W. Schemm of Neosho Rapids will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Messiah Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery at Neosho Rapids. The family will meet friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home in Lebo.

Mr. Schemm died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007, at Newman Regional Health. He was 86.
He was a farmer.
The son of George and Frieda Schneck Schemm, he was born July 22, 1921, at Wakeeney. He graduated from Neosho High School in 1938. After high school, he served in the Air Force as a flight engineer with the 32nd Bomb Squadron, 301st Bomb Group.
He married Dena Fern Juyett. They were divorced. He married Mary Jane Andrews on Jan. 22, 1972, at Emporia. She survives.
Mr. Schem was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. He also was a member of the American Legion.
He is also survived by one daughter, Pamela Matlock of Lebo; one son, Ronald Schemm of Emporia; one stepdaughter, Karla Textor of Emporia; three stepsons, Terry Schemm of Neosho Rapids, John Schemm of Philadelphia, Pa., and Michael Schemm of Evansville, Ind.; two sisters, Dorothy Kramer of Neosho Rapids and Gertrude Ellen Ashcraft of Boulder, Colo.; many grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. A daughter, Patricia Zirkle; two brothers, Raymond Carl Schemm and Arnold H. Schemm; and a stepgrandson, Troy Schemm, died earlier.
