Georgea Rae Weast, Osage City

1924 - 2007

The graveside service for Georgea Rae Weast will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Moran Cemetery in Moran. The family will meet friends from 4 to 6 p.m Sunday at the VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Osage City. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor.
Memorial contributions to Chapter IQ of P.E.O. Scholarship in memory of Paula Kendall and Sue Dubois may be sent in care of the funeral home, 107 N. Sixth St., Osage City, KS 66523.
Mrs. Weast died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at Newman Regional Health. She was 82.
She taught school for 20 years in Cherokee, Allen and Neosho counties. She was a social worker in Iola for 24 years.
The daughter of John F. and Kathryn Cowley Jones, she was born Oct. 25, 1924, at Columbus. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1941 and from Pittsburg State University in 1952 with a degree in education.
She married Wayne W. Weast on Nov. 1, 1946, at Columbus. He died in 1991.
Mrs. Weast was a member of the United Methodist Church in Osage City. She also was a member of the P.E.O., most recently in Osage City and Emporia.
She is survived by a son, Donald W. Weast of Emporia; and three grandchildren, Emelie Rae Weast and Travis Kendall, both of Emporia, and Alicia Kendall of Grandview, Texas. A daughter, Paula R. Kendall, died Oct. 3, 1996. Three brothers, Gordon Jones, Fred Jones and Stuart Jones, also died earlier.
