Douglas James Hood
The memorial service for Douglas James Hood will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the C.D. Long’s Chapel at the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Nancy Gammill will conduct the service.

Mr. Hood died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, at his home, 868 W. Fifth Ave. He was 53.
He drove a truck for Emporia Motor Freight for 11 years and then a cab for DZ Cab Company for seven years.
The son of the Rev. Don and Alice Blunt Hood, he was born April 9, 1954, at St. Joseph, Mo. He graduated from Iola High School and Emporia State University with a bachelor’s degree in sociology.
He was married and divorced.
Mr. Hood is survived by one daughter, Jessica Hood of Emporia; one son, Dillon Hood of Newport News, Va.; his mother of Iola; and two sisters, Caroline Cole of Iola and Julie Heim of Springfield, Mo. His father died earlier.
