Helen Samuelson of Emporia died this morning at Newman Regional Health. She was 84.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
The memorial service for Helen Samuelson, 1314 Grand St., will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Andrews Episcopal Church. The Rev. Kelley Lackey will conduct the service. Mrs. Samuelson was cremated. Inurnment will be in St. Andrews Episcopal Church columbarium.
The family suggests that, instead of flowers, memorial contributions to S.O.S. or St. Andrews church be sent in care of the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, KS 66801.
Mrs. Samuelson died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at Newman Regional Health. She was 84.
She was a physical therapist in Connecticut and at Newman Memorial Hospital for 20 years before she retired 21 years ago. She worked with outreach Mental Health Center in the 1960s and with Blanch Kutter in the original Newman Hospital Home Health in the late 1960s.
The daughter of George and Ann Breyan Holebink, she was born Aug. 19, 1923, at Smith Mills, Pa. She married Roger B. Samuelson on April 22, 1949, at Minneapolis, Minn. He survives. The Samuelsons moved to western Kansas in 1950 where he was an administrator at Oakley, Oberlin and Hugoton hospitals. They then moved to El Dorado in 1952. They moved to Emporia in 1962, where he was the head adminstrator at Newman Hospital.
Mrs. Samuelson was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church. She also was a member of the Floralore Garden Club.
She is also survived by one daughter, Ruthann Resch of Emporia; one son, Lee Samuelson of Tacoma, Wash.; and three grandchildren. A brother, George Holebink, died earlier.
