Emily Ruth Rogers of Emporia died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, at Medicalodges Jackson County in Holton. She was 73.
Mrs. Rogers lived in Holton from 1971 until she moved to Emporia in 1991. In Holton, she was a waitress for Trails Café and Willie’s Diner and later, at the Flying J in Emporia.
The daughter of Henry Clifton and Ruth Jane Chancellor Brent, she was born Nov. 29, 1933, at Jackson, Miss. She married Charles Rogers in 1956. They were divorced.
Mrs. Rogers is survived by one daughter, Peggie Zirger of Topeka; two sisters, Ruby Behrends and Romona Powers, both of Holton; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Henry Brent and Marvin Brent, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Holton Cemetery.
