Dave Wright, Ringwood, Okla.

1949 - 2007

Emporia native Dave Wright died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, at his home near Ringwood, Okla. He was 58.
Mr. Wright worked in all aspects of the livestock industry, working with cattle in feedlots and preconditioning lots and ranches. One of the first places he worked was the Buster Wheat Cattle Ranch at Allen. He then moved to Memphis, Texas, where he worked at the Bradley B3R Ranch. He moved to Garden City where he worked at the Lobo Feedlot and then started his own preconditioning lot. He sold that business and worked for Lee Isaac at Hugoton, after which he relocated to the Ames-Ringwood area to work with Charlies and Jim Edwards. He worked with them for about 10 years, when he retired from full-time employment because of ill health.
The son of Dale E. and Jean Tyson Wright, he was born Jan. 18, 1949, at Emporia. He grew up in Emporia and graduated from Emporia High School in 1967.
Mr. Wright attended the Ames Christian Church and the Cowboy Church near Enid, Okla.
He is survived by his mother of Emporia; two sons, Wade Wright of Ringwood, Okla., and Justin Wright of Fairview, Okla.; one brother, Lee Wright of Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Ann Wright of Emporia and Jan Smith of Mauldin, S.C.; and one grandchild. His father died earlier.
The memorial service to celebrate his life will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Ames Christian Church in Ames, Okla.
