The funeral for Betty Elizabeth Rathke of rural Emporia will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. The Rev. Jim Akers of Madison will conduct the service. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery at Olpe.

Mrs. Rathke, who owned Moon Abstract Company, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, at her son’s home on Kahola Road. She was 78.
The daughter of Tobias and Lillian Stavitsky, she was born Sept. 11, 1929, at New York, N.Y. She married Jim Rathke on Dec. 14, 1946, at New York. He survives.
Mrs. Rathke was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Emporia Chamber of Commerce, the American Business Women’s Association and a bridge club.
She is also survived by a son, Jim Rathke Jr., of Emporia; two daughters, Barbara Moyer and Kathy Putnam, both of Emporia; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A son, Ron Rathke, and two brothers died earlier.
