Benjamin Linn of Emporia died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, at the Flint Hills Care Center. He was 87.
Services are pending at Charter Funerals-Emporia Chapel.
The funeral for Benjamin Arthur “Ben” Linn Sr., of Emporia will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Charter Funerals Emporia Chapel. The Rev. Lee Hoskins will conduct the service.
Burial with military honors will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Council Grove. There will be a dinner at noon at the Grace United Methodist Church for family and close friends.
Memorial contributions to Hand in Hand Hospice may be sent in care of the funeral home, 501 W. Sixth Ave., Emporia, KS 66801.
Mr. Linn died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, at the Flint Hills Care Center in Emporia. He was 87.
He was a salesman of new and used cars; after retirement, he picked up and delivered cars for dealerships. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
The son of Ray G. and Grace Weeks Linn, he was born Jan. 25, 1920, in Dunlap. He married Irma Marie Scott on Nov. 11, 1942, in White City. She died in an automobile accident in 1960. He married Virginia L. Murphy on June 4, 1961. She died in 2005.
Mr. Linn was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Council Grove. He was a member of American Legion Ball-McColm Post 5 and the Emps Camping Club.
He is survived by four sons, Dale Linn of Emporia, Benjamin A. Linn Jr. of Conway Springs, Robert Linn of Independence, Mo., and Denis Murphy of Silver City, N.M.; two daughters, Marilyn Murphy of Lenexa and Penny Stiull of Odessa, Mo.; one sister, Elsie Lindgren of Denver; 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
One brother, Ray O. Linn; two sisters, Margaret Viar and Arlene Axe; and a grandson, Benjamin A. “Benji” Linn III., died earlier.
The family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Charter Funeral-Emporia Chapel.
