Ralph William Haynes, Emporia

1926 - 2007

Ralph William Haynes, a resident of the Emporia Presbyterian Manor, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2007. He was 81.
Mr. Haynes taught in the public schools at Wichita and owned a Daylight Donut Shop before he retired. He also was a caregiver. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
The son of Harve and Leola Haynes, he was born March 13, 1926, at Douglass.
Mr. Haynes is survived by a niece, Liz Coffelt of Emporia; and a nephew, Bill Haynes of Wichita. Four brothers, Freddie Haynes, Eldon Haynes, Dick Haynes and Emmett Haynes; and two sisters, Haldeen and Hazel, died earlier.
A joint graveside service with his sister, Hazel, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Douglass Cemetery in Douglass.
The family suggests that, instead of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the H. Dale Buck Animal Welfare Memorial Fund, Botanica Gardens of Wichita or the Douglass Kansas Pioneer Museum in Douglass and sent in care of the Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Road, Derby, KS 67037.
